Kansas Paramedic Experienced Experienced Cardiac Arrest while responding to an emergency call!

Kansas Paramedic Justin Lauppe, a 14-year veteran of Butler County EMS, died in the line of duty on May 16.
Lauppe experienced cardiac arrest while responding to an emergency call and did not survive, according to Butler County EMS. His service to his community exemplified “the courage and selflessness that defined his career.”
“Paramedic Justin Lauppe was a pillar of our team, known for his unwavering commitment to saving lives and compassionate care. His loss is deeply felt by colleagues, friends, and the countless individuals he served in Butler County.”
Lauppe will be remembered for his dedication to the community.
Butler County EMS is supporting his family and colleagues and will share further details as appropriate. Other EMS agencies are asked to help Butler County EMS honor Lauppe’s memory. A memorial service is being planned, with details to follow at a later date.
Butler County EMS provides Emergency Medical Services to Butler County, responding to over 7,000 calls annually with a team of dedicated professionals.
This happens everyday in the world, where an EMS Provider makes the ultimate sacrifice to save a life, don’t you think that they deserve a place to be remembered? We do and we are calling it “Legends Park, a place in Montana where our First Responders will be remembered and #honored for all times, help us make this happen, show that these brave men and women matter to us.
A Beaumont Texas Fire & Rescue #ambulance was involved in a crash that sent Paramedics to the hospital; two were released, and one remains in serious condition.
Beaumont Fire Department Chief Earl White said the ambulance was responding to a medical call and had its lights and sirens on when the driver of another vehicle failed to yield and struck the ambulance, causing it to flip on its side.
Beaumont Police Sgt. Swope said the driver of the SUV that hit the ambulance was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
EMT Tiffany Woodland remains in the hospital. Chief White is praying for a speedy recovery for Woodland: “She’s a wonderful employee and invested in her career. She offers the highest degree of service to citizens of our community. And we’re praying for her speedy recovery, and we are here to support her and her family, along with all the other First Responders who put their lives on the line every day.”
Chief White emphasized the importance of paying attention and always looking out for emergency vehicles when there are sirens and lights. “They could be responding to your loved ones,” he said.
The SUV driver was also transported to the hospital. His condition is unknown.
As serious as this is it could have been worse. This is just one of many reasons to stay alert when your driving. Remember pull to the right side of the road when you see emergency vehicles approaching.

National EMS Week 2025

During National EMS Week you might want to know that;
The 2020 National EMS assessment shows that MORE THAN 18,200 local EMS agencies respond to more than 28.5 MILLION 911 dispatches each year for medical emergencies.
In the United States, more than 550,000 people use air ambulances annually to get the care they need. This statistic reflects the growing need for quick, reliable access to specialized medical treatment, especially when ground transportation is not a viable option.
According to an Oct/03/2024 Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) release, Montana has 225 Licensed Emergency Medical Services Agencies.
According to Palmisano & Goodman, Approximately 6500 ambulance accidents occur in the United States every year. These accidents injure nearly 2600 and kill nearly 35 people on average. Additionally, 60% of these accidents occur during emergency use. Medical responders are at a higher risk of crashes than other emergency first responders. We have all seen how people drive, and EMS providers risk their lives just getting to you………..
No matter where you are, what has happened to you, no matter what the weather is or even how tired we are, WE WILL BE THERE FOR YOU, UNCONDITIONALLY……………..

In following up our last post yesterday, We felt that during EMS Week we thank those who believe in the importance of our goal to build Legends Park in Honor of our EMS brothers and Sisters who we have lost in the line of duty

The Metro Aviation family Based in Shreveport, Louisiana https://www.metroaviation.com/ https://www.facebook.com/MetroAviation who is no stranger to being a huge part of the Emergency Medical Services as everything they do is all about #safety and saving lives.

Their entry into the air medical service business came in November 1983 with two used Hughes 500-D model helicopters, when Metro Aviation entered into a long-term agreement to provide helicopter ambulance service for Schumpert Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Metro Aviation now has air medical transport operations throughout the United States. The Metro Aviation logo will be placed on our Recognition of Contribution wall in legends park honoring our corporate sponsors.

Earlier this year Metro Aviation made a very generous donation to our Foundation to cover the complete design , creation and publishing of our webpage at https://www.mtemsmemorialfoundation.org on this special week we wanted to Thank you Metro Aviation for your generous donation, we could not have done it without you.

A Paramedic/Chief Operations Officer involved in a fatal, head-on collision

A paramedic with https://www.facebook.com/AmeriProHEALTH/ and Chief Operations Officer for the Mississippi Weather Network was involved in a fatal, head-on collision
Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Jameka Moore said a 2004 Freightliner driven by Roosevelt Newell, 61, of Taylorsville was traveling east on Highway 18 when he collided with Adam Gambrell, 29, of Meridian, who was driving a 2019 Kia Forte traveling westbound.
Gambrell was pronounced dead at the scene. Newell sustained injuries, Moore said.
MWN CEO Hunter Dickerson recognized Gambrell as the company’s COO. He was also a paramedic with AmeriPro: Health EMS in Jasper County.
“Adam served as our Chief Operations Officer and did a lot of the behind-the-scenes tasks to make production easier for me,” Dickerson said. “Adam was a lifelong friend and former colleague of mine in my full-time profession. He loved serving Mississippians as he was a dedicated paramedic in Jasper County, and by relaying life-saving weather information here on MWN.”
Gambrell was married to Alexis Gambrell, and the couple have a son, Roman.
Social media was flooded with messages regarding Gambrell and his character, with many mourning his loss.
“Adam was an Eagle Scout from our council, a dedicated paramedic and a loving husband and father. We are deeply saddened by the news of his passing,” Choctaw Area Council representatives said.
Christopher Brown, Public Information Officer with the Jasper County Emergency Response Team, described Adam not just as a co-worker but as a friend.
“He wasn’t just a supervisor; he was a solid man, a teacher, a leader, and to many of us, a friend,” Brown said. “He carried so much wisdom in everything he said. He didn’t just teach us how to do the job but taught us how to carry ourselves, how to treat others and how to stay grounded when things got heavy. He had a way of making you feel seen and heard, even in the busiest moments.”
A GoFundMe account, organized by Brandi Parker, was created, and as of Tuesday, over $10,000 had been raised to help aid Alexis and Roman in the loss of their husband and father.
“No words will ever be enough, but if you had the pleasure of knowing Adam, then you know he was one of the most loving, caring, God-fearing men,” the fundraiser post read. “His love of music led him to assist with the Raleigh High School Marching Band percussion, where he invested heart and soul into the students. He loved playing drums for his church, First Baptist Church Taylorsville.”
“He loved Lexi and would move mountains for her, and then when he became a father, that love and devotion extended to precious Roman. Adam’s sweet spirit will always watch over and protect his wife and baby boy,” the fundraiser post continued.
Please take a moment of silence for Adam and know that he is watching out for all of us still here saving lives.

Missouri Firefighter Paramedic dies after being stabbed in ambulance by patient

A firefighter paramedic in Missouri was killed in the line of duty on Sunday after he was allegedly stabbed in the back of an ambulance while transporting a patient to the hospital.
Kansas City Fire Department Fire Medic Graham Hoffman, 29, died on Sunday a few hours after he was stabbed in the chest by a patient being taken to the hospital following a routine medical call from police, the city of Kansas City said in a news release.
Hoffman’s partner “initiated a crew emergency” after the stabbing and additional fire and police units responded to the scene, the city said. He was taken to North Kansas City Hospital, where he died in the Intensive Care Unit despite “heroic efforts” from KCFD paramedics while taking him to the hospital and staff in the Emergency Room and surgery.
“His KCFD ambulance was an essential lifesaving tool,” the Missouri Division of Fire Safety posted on Facebook. “But early this morning, Hoffman’s ambulance became a crime scene and Hoffman a victim of an unfathomable crime – allegedly stabbed to death by a patient he was treating.” Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said Hoffman displayed the city’s “finest quality” through his “selfless service for others.”
“That he was taken from us while working to save lives makes this loss all the more painful,” Lucas said, in part. “This senseless act reminds us of the dangers our first responders face each day. The suspect remains in custody as the police department works with the Clay County Prosecutor toward charges. We will demand accountability be applied not just to the suspect, but also for any steps in the system that fell short.”
Lucas said the city mourns with Hoffman’s family, friends and the fire department, and asked that Kansas Citians keep the Hoffman family and the city’s “brave first responders” in their prayers.

Three Crew Members in an ARCH Medical Helicopter Crash

Three crew members in an ARCH medical helicopter were injured Thursday night when it crashed on takeoff during a training exercise in Hartford, Illinois. The crash was shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday April 24th, 2025 as the helicopter was taking off from the Hartford fire station, according to Air Methods. One of the crew members suffered a back injury. One had a head injury, and one had back, neck and head injuries. Two were taken to Barnes-Jewish Hospital and one went to St. Louis University Hospital. All were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The occupants were with ARCH Crew 1 out of Granite City, according to Air Methods, which runs ARCH Air Medical Service.
Firefighters put out a fire on the helicopter after the crash.
Hartford police Chief Matt Asbury said the helicopter went down on a vacant lot next to the fire house and police station. No one on the ground was hurt, Asbury said.
There was no patient on board during this training exercise. This shows the risk that all of Montana’s EMT’s, Paramedics, Flight Medics and Flight Nurses take everyday to be there when we need them the most.
