Our Mission: Honoring Sacrifice. Building Legends Park

At the Montana Emergency Medical Services Memorial Foundation, our mission is simple — to create a lasting tribute for the men and women of Montana’s EMS community who gave their lives in the line of duty. Through the development of Legends Park, we are committed to ensuring that their stories, sacrifices, and legacies are never forgotten.

About Us

Honoring the Heroes Who Serve Montana

We are a group of passionate volunteers, EMS professionals, and community members, committed to turning this vision into reality. With a 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, the Montana EMS Memorial Foundation operates with complete transparency, and every dollar raised goes directly to the construction and maintenance of Legends Park.

We have already secured the foundational partnerships and community support needed to make this vision come alive. Our team works tirelessly to ensure that every step taken in the creation of Legends Park reflects the courage and commitment of the heroes we seek to honor.

If you share our vision, we welcome you to join us in any capacity — whether as a donor, volunteer, or advocate. Together, we can build Legends Park that celebrates the heroes of Montana’s EMS Community. Contact Us to learn more about getting involved.

Why We Honor Our Legends!

The men and women of Montana’s EMS community demonstrate unwavering courage in the face of danger. They are the ones who show up when lives are at stake. Legends Park will stand as a tribute to these heroes, a space where their sacrifices are remembered and their stories inspire future generations to serve with honor and compassion.

A letter from our Founder

I would like to share our story, about the Nameless, Faceless Life Savers who are there at the worst moment of a person’s life and do everything that they can to get them through it, here is our story.

It is important to me that you know what we are doing to Honor, remember, and say thank you to Montana’s Emergency Medical Service Providers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. A place where young Montanan’s can go and learn about what we do in our daily service to save someone’s life and hopefully want to follow our lead.

So, let me share where this came from. The Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial is a memorial to career and volunteer firefighters who died in the line of duty. Located in Emmitsburg MD it was conceived as a tribute to Firefighters. The memorial was constructed in 1981 on the campus of the National Fire Academy.

The Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial is in Washington, D.C., adjacent to the Law Enforcement Museum. In October 1991, the memorial was officially dedicated. At the time of dedication, the names of over 12,000 fallen officers were engraved on the Memorial’s walls.

In 2018 Public law 115-275 was signed by then President Trump to form an Emergency Medical Services Memorial. While there are folks earning a salary as they ponder how and what to do for our EMS providers who gave their lives in the Line of duty; 7 years have passed and STILL no memorial exists for our fallen EMS Brothers and Sisters. It is as if those who serve in the Emergency Medical Services Field just don’t matter.

My 2 brothers; Michael, Brian and I all chose EMS as a career and have always been ready to lay down our lives for those we have been entrusted to rescue and save. This is not just a job for us. It is a calling; it is who we are. No one made us take this job, we chose it. We believe in it and will fight for those who need our help until our last day.

Recently, BOTH of my brothers lost their lives in the line of duty. Through the ordeal I learned that no one cares. That we don’t matter and this is unacceptable. I started doing research and was amazed at how many EMS Professionals pay the ultimate price to be there for someone at that worst moment of their lives. In Jan 2024, I and my Executive Vice-President decided enough is enough. That EMS Professionals do matter. That we and the families who lost their loved ones need a place to remember, a place to mourn, a place to be proud of the service our loved ones provided to total strangers.

Below are just some of our plans:

  • To build a memorial park. The park will be named Legends Park. Our plan is for it to be on 2-3 acres of land where families, friends and those who were saved can go and remember, enjoy a picnic and walk the Legend’s path. A place where children can play in a playground on EMS themed playground equipment. We want a real Ambulance to stay in the park on static display with signatures of people in Montana who believe in our dream. We want a real HEMS airframe to represent those in the Helicopter Emergency Medical Services field.
  • We are planning a lake, and large monument to firms/companies who believe in this cause for all to see who help us make this happen.
  • We already have a school that has guaranteed a full scholarship to the children of an EMR/EMT/MEDIC who lost their life in the line of duty. So that they can follow in their father’s or mother’s footsteps.
  • We plan to have an honor guard, counselors and bereavement funding to help the families at their time of need.

Honestly there is so much more that we want to do for our fallen EMS Professionals and their families.

We already have our Non-Profit foundation filed and approved with the State of Montana and we have our approval from the IRS for our 501c3 certification. We are also registered with all of the non-profit verification agencies. In the interest of true transparency all of our records are public information. So that everyone can see that no one here is making a salary to just think about what to do.

Now, the big part…….Our plan is to have Legends Park completed by the end of 2025 following our mission statement “Whatever it takes“. Everyone involved is a volunteer and 100% of every dollar that comes into the Montana Emergency Medical Services Memorial Foundation goes to getting Legends Park built. There is NEVER a charge to any EMS Provider or their family to be honored in Legends Park, ever.

There is so much more and I could go on and on. IF Possible, follow our Facebook page, please share it with others because it is important that the world knows that All EMS staff are family and we stand together. Please share your ideas with us. Join our cause, help us make this happen Whatever It Takes. Help anyway you can to show that those who serve in the Emergency Medical Field matter, if it matters to you. We are always looking for guidance to make this plan a reality.

Please; anything you can do to help us make Legends Park a reality would mean so much to those who risk their lives every day to save a stranger’s life.

Let me know your questions, thoughts, ideas or comments. We are the Nameless, Faceless life savers who are there when you need us.
